Mr. Niklas Saari is currently working on a four-month secondment at The Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT), Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH). CERTH is a highly accredited applied research institute in the field of transportation in Greece and around Europe.

Niklas has been working in the Oulu University Secure Programming Group (OUSPG) for five years now and graduated with his master’s degree in Computer Science last year. The work has included participation in various teaching and research topics, particularly in the field of software security and cryptographic systems. He is now beginning his PhD, which focuses on the software security of satellite systems and understanding how different computer systems work and what could go wrong.

During his secondment at CERTH-HIT, Niklas’s work will be related to the design and implementation (at least partially) of cyber-resilient Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for C-ITS systems, so that it is compliant with relevant EU standards.  He will be co-supervised by Dr. Evangelos Mitsakis. Dr. Mitsakis is a Senior Researcher at the Hellenic Institute of Transport. He is Head of Laboratory “B3 – Infrastructure and traffic management in land transport” as well as Deputy Head of “Department B – Infrastructure, Networks, Mobility and Logistics”.
