Dr. Ramin Ghiasi from UCD attended CDV for a one-month secondment. CDV is one of the leading research centres in the field of intelligent mobility/autonomous systems, and the maintenance/reconstruction of transport infrastructure. During his secondment, Dr. Ghiasi worked on data mining on the data of a particular magnetometer sensor.

Dr. Ramin Ghiasi received his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2019 which was focused on Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Data Mining, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence. After that, he joined the International Institute for Urban Systems Engineering (IIUSE) at Southeast University (China) as an adjunct research assistant professor and did research in the domains of sustainable infrastructure and hysteresis behavior modeling from 2019 to 2022. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral researcher at University College Dublin (UCD) and doing research on the health monitoring of infrastructure such as railway tracks/bridges/wind turbines.

On 29 May 2023, Dr. Ramin Ghiasi had a meeting with Pavel Řezáč (Director of the Transport Technologies and Human Factors Division at CDV) and Roman Čampula (Area Manager at CDV) where he delivered a presentation on “New technologies using big data and Internet of Things systems to support continuous monitoring of road network performance”.
